Continental Divide

By Jennifer Howard

When I'm far away from you this is the place I come to...

senses recorded, sensations stored in the circuits hard wired into my mind.

When I placed my fingers on the pulse in your neck,

stared into your eyes until you blinked,

pressed my ear to your chest,

licked the sweat from your lips,

arms legs bodies entwined...did you know how much I love you?

Did you know it's because I need your skin,

need your breath,

need your blood pounding in my veins?

I need........to taste you.

I need........to touch you.

I need........to inhale you.

I need........to hear you.

I need..I crave...

I can feel you under my skin, pulsing in my veins...

An addiction invading every organ.

Je t'entendre coeur.  I can hear your heart...

Even now I can hear your heart.

Even from here I can hear your heart.
