Silent Pandemonium

by FelixGirl

The clangor of the coffee machine
Whirs in the background.
My chair squeaks nervously and
My leg bounces up and down mechanically.
So unlike us.
Renee peers into my eyes.
I know she is searching for something.
Do you feel inspired?
The answer is hazy.
I'm not sure.
My creativity stirs but I'm in a trance.
We gaze at each other even more intently.
We are thinking the same thought.
Our lips stay bound
But our minds flood open.
Embarrassed by our bond, we laugh.
Our silent pandemonium is broken.
Constricted by the hourglass,
We stumble to our feet.
Our peaceable kingdom
Will lay dormant till next time.
