On
Some Rocky Cliff
by Jennifer Hill
On
some rocky cliff
I went to Eden in my mind,
running through that garden--
eating from the Tree of Life.
A
red-tailed hawk landed
with his prey in pointy talons, and
clutching my soul
I went to Eden in my mind,
and lost my way in lush vegetation.
Pursued
by darkness,
I turned and crushed the serpent's head,
And I called to that hungry hawk,
free to soar if he pleased,
and we supped together,
On
some rocky cliff
Eating from the Tree of Life.
